Announcement: A new cookery book is prepared for cooking in PKU

The first professional cookery book for cooking in phenylketonurie (PKU) in the Czech republic was edited in 1996. The authors, dietetician J.Komárková and experienced mother of PKU child H.Náglová offered in this book their experiences and creativity to users and developed publication with 250 pages, 60 photos and many tables informing about phenylalanine and energy content of various foods and meals. The cookery book was edited 6,5 years ago. Following period showed its excellent usefulness. Now it is used not only by parents of PKU children, but also by adult PKU patients in the Czech and Slovak republic. Also other users appreciate it, for instance hospitals and spas, where children and adults with PKU can be found.This cookery book is also used as a very good textbook for education for PKU patients, their parents and for interested dieteticians.

This year the edition of second cookery book is prepared by authors J.Komárková and L.Hejcmanová. This book will be edited in 2004 and beside recipies will contain some special chapters important for PKU patients. It will have about 200 pages 170 recipes and 70 photos. Beside conventional photos of meals the user will find successive pictures, which lead the user in technology preparing some meals, information about cooking in special situations in the life etc.
